Rainbow Book Tag

Rainbow Book Tag

I saw this tag over at The Literary Phoenix, and I thought it looked fun, so I’m stealing it.
The Rainbow Book Tag was created by Terri @ Le Book Chronicles.

Rules

  • It must be the dominant colour of the cover not the spine!
  • If you do not own a book of a certain colour, just choose one that has the colour on it somewhere.
  • It has to be a book you own and/or has to be the exact edition you read (e. g. there are two different covers for Me Before You, you would choose the one you read)
  • Tag some people to do it! Whether they be Bloggers, Bookstagrammers or BookTubers.

Red  A Kiss in Time

A Kiss in Time

by Alex Flinn

This is a great book. It’s quite funny, and it’s a retelling of sleeping beauty, so obviously I loved it.

TwelveOrange

Twelve

by Lauren Myracle

This is book three in what was one of my favourite series when I was younger, and apparently the only book I own that’s orange. I think it’s a sweet story about growing up, but honestly I don’t really remember these books at all… Just a couple small details, and that I was amused by the titles (I still am) because they go Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Thirteen Plus One. Which still cracks me up.

Harry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixYellow

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

by J. K. Rowling*

I have quite a few yellow books, but apparently I don’t really like most of them. And of course I needed to put in a Harry Potter book… and I think this counts as yellow.

*In case someone actually didn’t know who wrote HP…

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoners DilemmaGreen

The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner’s Dilemma

by Trenton Lee Stewart

I really enjoy this series, it’s not one of my favourites anymore, but I still like it. It’s interesting, it’s funny, and it’s thanks to this series that I know the definitions of the words ignominious and perfidious. Seriously, aren’t those great words?

The Indigo NotebookBlue

The Indigo Notebook

by Laura Resau

Despite being called The Indigo Notebook, I would say that this actually has more of a blue cover… Totally makes sense cover designer. Totally. It does have a gorgeous cover though, so I don’t really mind.

I think this was the first YA book I ever read, and I read it when I was eight or so, so it has a special place in my heart.

Cold FirePurple

Cold Fire

by Tamora Pierce

Yup, of course I have to have something by Tamora Pierce, and this is one of my favourite by her. I don’t mention it as much as some of her other stuff, because it comes after her series, Circle of Magic. I really think Circle of Magic should be read first, but it is for a slightly younger audience, so I suppose you could skip it, and go straight to this series. This is also book three, but this series can really be read in any order, and this one is my favourite. Although the first two (And the last one) are amazing too.

Also, isn’t this a beautiful cover? I sort of love it!

The BridesmaidPink

The Bridesmaid

by Hailey Abbot

I don’t have very many pink books. Well, I actually have quite a few, but mostly they’re from when I was really little.
This one is from a bit more recently though… I don’t remember it very well,* but I think I enjoyed it… I’m sort of curious what I would think of it now… when books about a sixteen year old with kissing, are absolutely normal, not new and exciting and slightly scary…

*I’d actually forgotten it existed…

Because of Mr. TerruptBrown

Because of Mr Terupt

by Rob Buyea

This is a lovely, sweet middle grade book, that I absolutely adore! It’s so emotional, and beautiful, and just WOW.

You can read my review of it here.

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named HamletWhite

The Total Tragedy of a Girl Named Hamlet

by Erin Dionne

This is another middle grade, but it’s just really funny, and so random. I sort of love it. It’s worth a read if you want a laugh.

Tortall and Other LandsBlack

Tortall and Other Lands

by Tamora Pierce

Yes, another Tamora Pierce book. The thing is, I don’t have a lot of books with black covers. And this one does, and is an amazing book, so I’m using it.

This is a collection of short stories, some of them about already existing characters, some taking place in the same world, but with none of the same characters, and some taking place in other worlds entirely. It’s super good, and one of the only short story collections I’ve ever really liked.

It’s an absolute must read if you like her other Tortall stuff, and most of the stories are great with or without the context of having read the other books. The only thing is that a couple of the stories do have spoilers… I would suggest that you either read the other stuff first, or skip the stories about the already existing characters…

I’m Tagging

Bookstormgirl

Charlotte @ Unhappy Octopus

I’m really bad at tagging people, so I don’t have very many…

Have you read any of these? Have you done this tag? What’s your favourite colour? (I know that’s a bit random, but whatever) Which of these covers is your favourite? (Most of them are so pretty!)

  1. I recently went out and purchased the entire Circle Opens quartet because YEARS ago someone bought me The Will of the Empress, which comes after it, and I REFUSE to read it until I read The Circle Opens. :). Although I REALLY don’t know what’s taken me ages, because The Circle of Magic was THE series that made me want to be a writer when I was a kid. 🙂

I love this list! So many books we don’t see every day… so good to expand our horizons. :). PLUS. Extra points for using Tamora Pierce twice. 😀

    • OH MY GOODNESS YOU NEED TO READ IT!!!!!!! It’s so so so good! I LOVE Circle of Magic, but a couple of The Circle Opens books are possibly even higher on my list… THEY ARE SO GOOD!

  2. Ooh I love that cover of the Tortall and Other Lands. SO PRETTY THOUGH. And my favourite colour is orange, but like a rusty or sunset orange. 😍 It’s really hard to find books in that shade but Tiger Lily by Jodi lynn Anderson and Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater are the PERFECT colours ahhh!

    • Me: Reads your comment. Stares at it confused for five minutes, “What is she talking about, the cover for that is BLUE” Realizes I’m mixing up Sinner and Shiver (The only one in that series I’ve actually read…). Oops. 🤣

  3. Ooh fun! I loved the Harry Potter and Benedict Society books too, and some of these covers are so nice! Favorite color would be blue.
Also, thanks for tagging me! 🖤 I’m having a crazy month and nooo time to write, but I’ll do it as soon as I can! 😆
