Top Ten Books That I Really Need to Read This Fall

I’ve sort of been failing at posting consistently lately, and it’s been way too long since I last posted… So… Sorry.

Today I’m linking up with Top Ten Tuesday, hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. I haven’t done very well with remembering to do Top Ten Tuesday,* but this week I remembered! Before Wednesday! YAY!!

Obviously I have way more than ten books on my TBR, but I’m going to try to limit myself to listing ten. Or at least not all three hundred, or however many I have…

*Well, I’m actually very good at remembering, just not on time. I usually remember on Wednesday…

1 – Carry On

I read Fangirl a couple weeks ago, and really liked it, so I want to read this. At the same time, I’m uncertain, because I think it’s basically Harry Potter fan fiction, and I never read fan fiction… I’m going to read it, I’m just procrastinating a bit. Because Fangirl was good, so I don’t want this to be completely awful, and I think this has the potential to be either really cool, or absolutely terrible.

2 – Rook

This book has such an intriguing premise! I also just read another book by this author, and it was amazing, so I have high hopes for this book. It’s like a futuristic Paris, and it’s the french revolution or something. Which totally makes sense, seeing as it’s futuristic, not historical fiction… I’m a bit confused, but it sounds good.
Also, it has a gorgeous cover! It’s so beautiful!

3 – The Golden Compass

Um, I still haven’t read this series. So I guess I sort of need to… I don’t know… I’m realizing I never actually read the blurb, and I have no clue what it’s about… I should maybe do that.
Anyways, this is one of those books that I just feel like I should read, but at the same time, doesn’t actually interest me all that much. It sounds vaguely interesting, but it just doesn’t really draw me in.

4 – This Savage Song

I REALLY WANT TO READ THIS! SO BADLY!!! I intend to read it as soon as my library gets it in, but that seems to be taking a long time. Too long.
There’s still one whole person in front of me in line for it, not to mention whoever actually has it out right now.
I. Am. Impatient. Hurry up library.

5 – The Mirror King

I read The Orphan Queen a week or so ago, and my reaction was basically to reread the last page about twelve times, sit there in shock for a few minutes, and then madly rush up the stairs to look up the sequel.
I think the library is interlibrary loaning* this for me, but I’m not entirely sure, because the librarian seemed a bit uncertain whether or not it had worked…

*I’m sure that’s the correct term…

6 – Glass Sword

I NEED TO READ THIS! Red Queen ended in such a huge cliffhanger, and I need to know what happens!
I’d sort of managed to put it out of my mind, but then I read Cruel Crown (A sort of companion book… I don’t really know what to call it…), and all of a sudden, I HAD to know what happened.
This is yet another book I have on hold at the library, and this one has THREE people ahead of me! I AM NOT PLEASED!

7 – The Rest of the Percy Jackson Series

Yes, ‘The rest of the Percy Jackson series’ definitely counts as a book. Don’t question this.
I’m partway through the series right now, and I’d really like to finish it. And I’m going to finish it. I’m very determined, because I’m reading the third book right now, and last time I tried to read these, I only read the first three. But this time I AM GOING TO FINISH THEM. I hope.

8 – Keeping Secrets & Circle of Love

I started this series three years ago. Back when MG historical fiction was one of my favourite genres. I really need to actually finish it, but I just can’t motivate myself to actually pick them up. I borrowed them from my cousin, so hopefully I’ll actually read them… It’s a pretty good series, and I think once I start I’ll enjoy them, I just can’t seem to start.

9 – Brisingr

I don’t really want to read this, but I do sort of want to know what happens. So I’m going to try to read it.
I really liked Eragon, but I was bored to death by eldest. It was just… not interesting.
And this is so huge… ugh.

10 – The Lord of the Rings

by J. R. R. Tolkien*

I really, really, really need to read these. I’m actually halfway through the first book, but I’ve been halfway through the first book for about four months…
The fact is, I find them boring. The plot is okay, but the writing is tedious, and the characters aren’t very well developed.
I’m going to finish them. Someday. Like twelve years from now.

*Obviously everyone knows this, but it would look silly if I didn’t put the author in.
