Ten Bookish Worlds I’d Love to Visit

Hi everybody!

Today I’m once again linking up with Top Ten Tuesday, hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl! Today’s prompt is “Bookish Worlds I’d Want to/Never Want to Live In”, so I’ll be listing ten worlds I’d love to visit.

Just… not during the events the books please? Seeing what sort of books I read (dark ones), and what sort of survival skills I have (Aka, NONE), I think I would be dead if I was there during the events of the book. But… I’d still really love to visit them! And I can just cross my fingers and hope I don’t die.

1 – Red London

Shades of Magic by V.E Schwab

I spent the entirety of this series bemoaning the fact that Red London wasn’t a real place I could live in. It’s so vivid and alive and vibrant and AHHHHH!!! I LOVED this world. I loved the magic. Loved the culture. Loved EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! The world building in this book was perfection, and I’ve never wanted a fictional world to be real so bad!

This world would be my home base, from which I would travel to all the other fictional worlds. *sigh* I wish.

2 – The Wizarding World

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

This one is obvious. What bookworm doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts? To visit Diagon Alley? See a Quidditch game? Spend a day (or a few hundred) in Hogsmeade? This series has been a favourite for so long. The world is so ingrained in me. The magic is so familiar to me. I would give almost anything to get a chance to see this world.

3 – New Beijing

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

And honestly just this whole world. And Luna.

Minus the plague please? And also ideally the whole war thing? I’d really like to avoid those. But if I could visit after the events of the book…! It would be amazing! Hovers and androids and all sorts of amazing technology! I want to see it SO bad! And the word building was just so good, and I just love it so much!

4 – Goredd and Porphyry

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

I sort of adore these books, and the world is so vivid and developed! Plus dragons!

I would love to visit all the countries, but I’m the most interested in these two. Goredd because it’s where a large percentage of the books take place, and it was the most developed, and I guess the most familiar. Porphyry because from the small glimpse of their culture that we got it seemed really neat and I want to learn more!

5 – Tortall & surrounding countries

Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce

These books were so huge for the later part of my childhood. They were absolute favourites, and I ADORE this world! Plus I know it so well, I honestly think I would be completely comfortable in it. I would LOVE a chance to visit this world. Tortall and Galla and Scanra and the Copper Isles and Carthak and AHHH!! I practically know this world as well as my own, and I want to see it SO BAD!

6 – Emelan & surrounding countries

Circle of Magic by Tamora Pierce

Much like the Tortall books, these books were a huge part of my childhood. In fact they were far huger than the Tortall books ever were. Circle of Magic was my first Tamora Pierce book, and it shaped my childhood so much. I love these books with all of my heart, and if I had a chance to visit Emelan or any of the other countries I would take in in a heartbeat! This world is SO precious to me, and I love every aspect of it! Can I PLEASE visit this world?!

7 – The Land of Stories

The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer

Um yeah, while we’re talking about childhood favourites, I would absolutely LOVE to visit the land of stories!

I mean, first of all it’s legit a magical fairy tale world! I’ve always really enjoyed fairy tales, so that alone would interest me. Plus, it’s the setting from one of my favourite childhood series. And just like all the wonderful wacky different parts of the world! ❤

8 – The Grishaverse

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Does this even need explanation?

This series is utter perfection, and Shadow and Bone is pretty good too. The world was so perfect and wonderful and amazingly developed! I WANT TO VISIT IT!!! Because it is perfection. PERFECTION!!

9 – Fennbirn

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

This isn’t one of my absolute favourite series, but something about this setting just enchanted me!

It’s so dark and eerie and mysterious, and I fell head over heels in love with this island! And I would just love to visit it. I love the Naturalists and the Elementalists and the Poisoners and ahhhhhhh!!!!! I mean, I would be terrified for my life, but I’d still love to visit! Just… maybe for a short period of time. And maybe not during Ascension Year… But still!

10 – Shearing

A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth C. Bunce

This is one of my favourite books and it’s soooo underrated (Aka, READ IT), and the world building is SPECTACULAR!!!! I don’t scream about it nearly enough, and I really should.

The world is wonderful. This little town is so eerie and magical and also had this wonderful amazing community of caring people, and I want to visit it so much! Because it is SO AWESOME!!!
