(Three Week Late) March Wrap-Up

Edit: lol look at my nice hopeful into that I wrote three weeks ago back when I wrote this and forgot to hit post :
Look I’m actually posting sorta on time for once? I mean okay, ideally my wrap-ups go up on the first of the month, but so long as it’s in the first week of the month I’m satisfied.
So look! I’m not failing at blogging in April! yet!
Okay I’m gonna stop trying to write a coherent intro now and get right into it.

March wasn’t the best month reading wise. I was slumping through a lot of it, and a lot of my reads hovered around three stars. I did read a few books I adored though.

Queer, There and Everywhere by Sarah Prager – This was soooo interesting! I’ve always found history fascinating, and I binged this book in one sitting.
I will say though, it was a little juvenile. The actual stories? SUPER INTERESTING. The writing? … less interesting. – 3.5 stars
Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley – Fun and bookish, but ultimately not memorable or all that unique. – 3 stars
Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi – This book was like half Warnette kissing, which I was not here for (they’re fine, I even sorta ship them, but I want actual like,,, plot. Not JUST making out), but the writing was gorgeous, Kenji is amazing, Juliette is amazing, and what little plot we actually got was good. – 3.5 stars

Proxy by Alex London – This was underwhelming. I absolutely adored Alex London’s most recent book, Black Wings Beating, and this had been on my tbr for like a year, so I had high hopes, and they were… not met.
This was… fine. There wasn’t anything wrong with it. It was just completely underwhelming. – 3 stars
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff – This took me almost a month and a half to read, but despite that, I actually loved it! This series is… a lot. I can only take so much of it at once, not to mention Godsgrave had a very slow start. But I’m very glad I pushed through and read it, because it got SO GOOD. – 4 stars
Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine – This was a reread, and ahhhhh I love this series SO MUCH! The characters are so precious and I love them! And why must this book HURT ME LIKE THIS??? Ugh I love it so much. – 5 stars

Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy – Hi this was my favourite read of the month and I loved it with my entire heart. (In case you couldn’t tell by the fact that this is the third consecutive post I’ve mentioned it in).
Queer female King Arthur in space. Literally what more could I ask? – 5 stars!
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes – This. Series. Is. Finally. Over. Thank goodness. I lost interest around book three, but by that point I’d committed enough that I just HAD to finish it.
Why did I decide that was a good idea???
But like… there were two characters I loved. So that’s something. – 2.5 stars?
Ignite the Stars by Maura Milan – This wasn’t super memorable or anything, but it was very fun, and I’m glad I read it. I picked it up wanting a fun space adventure, and I got a fun space adventure. – 3.5 stars

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – This was sooooo good! It took me a while to get through it, but everything about it was lovely! The intricate plot, the amazing world building, the lovely writing, and most importantly the FANTASTIC characters! (Especially Hypnos and Enrique my fave drama queens) – 4 stars
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas – I admit, I didn’t actually have super high expectations for this? Sure The Hate U Give was amazing, but nothing about this really appealed to me?
I was being ridiculous, clearly. Bri was AMAZING. As was everything else about this book. I absolutely adored it. – 5 stars!

I… I did stuff in March? I assume?? Let me just,,, try to remember what happened. I tried to take notes for this wrap-up. That lasted all of two days.
Honestly March just hasn’t been the best month. I’ve barely talked to anyone irl, and I’ve just been in a weird emotional state all month, and I was in a reading slump.
Also I always hate spring break, because since I’m homeschooled the only thing it affects are classes I actually LIKE, not to mention rely on to get me out of the house and talking to people.
So yeah, March wasn’t all that great, but I’m going to try to write my normal, more upbeat life wrap-up section. It’s not like it was a totally horrible month or anything.
- A crepe shop opened up in town (I think in feb), so I’ve had a few crepes. And I very much approve.
- Also we had a warm spell, and I had ice cream last week (lol again I wrote this ages ago…) for the first time in ages.
- Apparently food is the only memorable thing that happened in March.
- The route to the city got closed so I missed one of my drama classes (aka the only thing that was running through spring break :), but it was also sort of a relief to just stay home and relax.
- I watched TV… Season 6 of B99, some Shadowhunters, and a few other random things.
- My shirt… dyed my skin? Somehow? It was a bit odd. Okay very odd. I was actually going to bed at a reasonable hour too, and then I was like “WTF why is my shoulder blue-grey???” It was bizarre. (But it washed off fine…)
- I… reorganized my bookshelf again.
- I wasted a ton of time on youtube??
- Literally what did I do?????
- Went to book club. That was fun.
Okay that’s all I’ve got. It was a really uneventful month.
Ooh I need to read On The Come Up!! Also… where is this crepe shop and WHY haven’t I heard of it yet??!! I love crepes!!!
