October Wrap-Up – Goodreads + How is it Already November?
October Wrap-Up!
Wow! How is it November already?! I swear it was just a couple days ago that I was writing my September wrap-up… how did this happen?
Well, it’s November, and I can’t say I’m too disappointed about this, because November should be a great month! I still can’t believe it though… October just passed SO fast.
So, I feel like I didn’t read a lot this month… I mean, I read eighteen books, which I won’t deny is a lot more than most people read, but for me, it feels like I could have read a lot more.
Also I feel like I had a teeny tiny bit of a reading slump this month. I just didn’t feel that motivated to read… or like, I felt motivated, but not quite motivated enough to actually go get my book.
Still, I read a decent amount, and most of the books were pretty good, so… I guess it was a fairly good month reading wise.
The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows – I’m still not okay after reading this! It was so amazing, and even more painful! And ASJHKSHKSDGJSADGJKHFKSDFKSFSKHFHSFHSFSHFSHK!!!!!! – 5* stars!
Fan Art by Sarah Tregay – This was happy, light fluff. That’s about it. It was sort of enjoyable, but… that was all it was. – 2.5 stars.
Page by Tamora Pierce – I love love love this series! I’m slowly rereading it, and oh it’s so good! Kel is one of my favourite protagonists, I really admire her determination. Also, like, every other character is wonderful as well! – 5 stars!
*Million
Rook by Sharon Cameron – This book was so interesting. It was futuristic, but like, the french revolution was repeating itself. And technology of any kind was outlawed.
I really liked the setting, and Rook was thoroughly enjoyable all around. – 4 stars.
A Curse Dark as Gold by Elizabeth Bunce – I absolutely adore this book! It’s one of my favourites, and this was my third reread I believe. It just so good! – 5 stars!
The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare – This was so much fun!! I’m an avid fan of the shadowhunter books,* and this just made me happy. So very happy. – 5 stars.
*I haven’t actually read them all yet, but I’m an avid fan anyways. Please don’t challenge my avid fan-ness.
Legend by Marie Lu – Okay, why had I not read any Marie Lu before?!?! I’m in love. I’m also severely NOT recovered from this one either. SO good! – 5 stars!
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare – AKKHKJADGJDAKDFAKDFADAKHDFHKGFKFKFKSHGKGHKGHKF!!!!!!!!! SO GOOD!!! I NEED CLOCKWORK PRINCESS RIGHT THIS SECOND!!!!!
Why do I not have Clockwork Princess right this second?! I need it. – 5 stars!
Another Kind of Cowboy by Susan Juby – I enjoyed this book, I thought it was good, but it wasn’t my thing. Personally, I’m sick of horse books. I read so many when I was younger, and I’m bored of them. I think if you love horses, or enjoy books about horses, this is a great read, it’s just not that interesting otherwise. – 3 stars.
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine – I really liked this. It was super good, and I loved the world! I mean, I hated it, but it was so interesting! This was a solid book, and I definitely need want to read the rest of the series. But I found it lacked… I don’t even know, but it just lacked some sort of spark, that would have sent it from Really Good, to Amazing. Honestly I think I’m mostly just annoyed that the book didn’t live up to it’s beautiful cover. – 5 stars.
The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan – I’m enjoying this series, it’s good, it’s funny, it’s an easy read. I find it a bit young, but… it is MG. I still find it an enjoyable read, I just don’t love it as much as a lot of people do. – 4 stars.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell – I was unsure going into this, after all, it’s basically Harry Potter fan fiction. I didn’t need to worry though, it was actually sort of great. – 4.5 stars.
Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart – This was so mind twisty, and interesting. The characters were all terrible people, but they were also quite well developed. – 4 stars.
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins – Although The Huger Games hasn’t blown me away as much as it has some people, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. And was completely emotionally destroyed by it. I’m still not okay.* Not at all okay.
This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab – ASJKSDHKJSDHSGDSDFGHSDHFJSJKFSDKFHDFJDFDJFGDJFGDFHJG THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!! I need ODD right now. This was just so good, and unique and monster-y!!** So, so good! – 5 stars!
*How many times have I said that in this post? Why do I like hurting myself like this?
**This is a word. For sure.
The Crow by Alison Croggon – This was a pretty ‘meh’ book for me. I want to know what happens to the characters, because they’re quite good, but I’m bored to death most of the time. – 3.5 stars.
Squire by Tamora Pierce – Like I already said, I adore this series. So good. So, so good. – 5 stars!
Saving Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea – This is the sweetest, most heartbreaking series. I just want my smol little darlings to be happy for once!* But yet the author just keeps hurting them. – 5 stars!
*My smol little darlings who are actually only a couple years younger than me in this book… weird.
I didn’t acquire many books this month, which is probably a good thing but… I wish I’d got more than one book.
Literally my book haul. But I’m very happy to finally own this, because I love this series.
I’m very annoyed though, because it does NOT match my copy of the first book.
Look! See? BAD!!
This wasn’t my best month blogging wise… I posted a lot more than I did in September, but I still didn’t post as much as I wanted. I had hoped to post ten times, and I think I posted eight. So… better than I could have done.
I guess…
I don’t have particularly high stats on any of my posts this month, so I’m just going to include the posts I had the most fun writing.
I have very little for this section,* but I had a couple things I wanted to put in, so this is just going to be very short.
- May wrote an absolutely lovely post about how you shouldn’t be ashamed of blogging or writing.
- CAIT IS GETTING PUBLISHED!!!!!!!!!!
That’s literally all I’ve got. More next time. Hopefully.
*Bookmark post you like next time Iris!!!
Also randomly I’m on Goodreads now! Yay! I’ve been wanting to get on Goodreads for ages, but only finally got on about a week ago. Now I’m obsessed.
I feel like October just completely flew by. Like, I swear I have no clue where it even went.
Honestly though, I barely even know what I did in October. So… a list! Because… I don’t know. Apparently I like lists.*
- I went to see my relatives, and we had a lovely thanksgiving dinner.
- And played lots of games.
- And just had a lot of fun.
- Then we went to a writer’s festival, which was actually very boring.
- Yes, I just called something book related boring.
- It was something my parents wanted to go to, and there was almost nothing about YA.
- Except for one event, that I went to, and it was fun. But like, in general it wasn’t that interesting.
- I was far more excited by the fact that our hotel room had A LOFT! Which was really incredibly awesome.
- Honestly I mostly procrastinated everything I was supposed to be doing, by reading blog posts, and browsing Goodreads.
EXCUSE ME WHILE I FANGIRL. YOU READ PROTECTOR OF THE SMALL. Next to Harry Potter, her books were my favorite growing up!! Also yay for the Mirror King, I’ve met precious few people who have read it, and I really enjoyed the duology 😀

Yeah, Protector of the Small is great! It’s a bit younger than most of what I’m reading now, but I don’t care, it’s still a favourite.
The Mirror King was so wonderful!!! I wish more people had read it… AND THIS SAVAGE SONG!!!!! I NEED OUR DARK DUET RIGHT NOW!! It was just so, so, so amazing!

Wow, it seems like you had an AMAZING reading month, this is SO great! I’m glad you loved Legend, I recently read it and really enjoyed it as well – I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series. I have read Warcross and The Young Elites by Marie Lu as well and LOVED BOTH, I hope you’ll want to read them too 🙂
And right??? Mockingjay is so emotionally destructive, it’s crazy. I couldn’t stop crying, so I didn’t even see what I was reading ahah, it was a bit crazy. Definitely intense. Glad you loved Ink & Bone, this one is on my TBR, can’t wait to read it 😀
Hope you’ll have a lovely November! xx
